FAN NOT FANATIC

I am a Sabbath fan. Not a fanatic as I do not chase the band around like some lost soul or have a shrine set up in the corner of my bedroom to worship the band. I don't listen to them every day or buy every piece of merchandise they sell. I don't have their name or images tattooed on my body (yet). No I am not a Black Sabbath fanatic but I am a fan. To me, Sabbath is a way of life, a passion that lives in my soul and has been there since I was 14 years old. I do not need idol worship at this point in my life but there was a time when I did and Black Sabbath filled that void as well as helped me through some tough times as an adolescent. They remain with me as a good friend remains in your heart and are always there when I need them. I am not satanic, evil nor do I worship the devil. Those that listen to Black Sabbath songs and lyrics know this is not what the band is about also. They write songs of love, life, death, politics, fantasy, addiction, prophecy, wisdom and truth. They warn of bad decisions and doom and cry out for people to open their minds to the world around them. Sabbath is more than just a band, they are all of us rolled into one. Good and evil, negative and positive, faith and hopelessness, reality and imagination. To listen to their music is to free your body and soul. They have helped make me what I am today.
